When ordering flowers for someone at BC Cancer, we follow BC Cancer's documented no-scent policy:

  • Strongly scented flowers are not permitted

    We are not allowed to deliver specific flowers such as large lilies, hyacinths or stock due to patient allergies and sensitivities. If the arrangement you have chosen contains these flowers, we will contact you and can substitute with a low-fragrance flower of similar size and colour so as to create a design as close to the original as possible.

  • Latex balloons are also not permitted

    Once again, due to patient allergies and sensitivities, latex balloons cannot be delivered to hospitals. The good news? Foil (Mylar) balloons are hospital-safe, so you can still send a balloon bouquet and we'll simply substitute foil balloons of equal value in place of latex. Please note the single balloon or 3 balloon bouquet available to add at checkout are all foil Mylar only.

If you are unsure whether the patient's unit allows flowers, let us know and we will help you find the right solution — whether that means holding the order until such time as they can receive flowers, waiting to deliver to the patient's home, or choosing a non-floral gift option.

Tip: For patients undergoing active treatment at BC Cancer, home delivery is often the best option. Include a personal card message — we will make sure it accompanies the arrangement beautifully.
