Hospital-Friendly Flower Delivery

The Jim Pattison Pavilion houses several units with specific sensitivities, and we can adjust the preparation of each arrangement and its delivery accordingly:

  • Strongly scented flowers are not permitted.

We are not allowed to deliver specific flowers such as large lilies, hyacinths or stock due to patient allergies and sensitivities. If the arrangement you have chosen contains these flowers, we will contact you and can substitute with a low-fragrance flower of similar size and colour so as to create a design as close to the original as possible.

  • Only foil Mylar balloons are accepted.

Also due allergies and sensitivities, latex balloons can also not be delivered to hospitals. The good news? Foil balloons are hospital-safe, so you can still send a balloon bouquet and we'll simply substitute foil balloons of equal value in place of latex. Please note the single balloon or 3 balloon bouquet available to add at checkout are all foil Mylar only.

  • Compact, clean arrangements.

Hospital rooms — especially in a busy acute tower — have limited surface area. Our designs fit comfortably on a bedside table, counter or window sill.

  • Vase or basket included.

Every arrangement arrives pre-arranged in a vase or basket, ready to display and easy to move around.

The ICU unit and post-surgical areas may have restrictions on flower delivery depending on the patient's condition. If this is the case, we will contact you to discuss options. Most often, we will hold the order, contact the hospital daily and then deliver when the patient's condition improves and they are moved to a different area of the hospital.

Tip: Please include the patient's full name and, if known, the floor or unit number for smooth delivery. This will help us to locate the patient when we call the hospital to verify with patient information.

Serving Vancouver Families with Care

The Jim Pattison Pavilion opened in 2003 and quickly became the centre of inpatient life at Vancouver General Hospital. With 12 floors and approximately 476 beds, it is where the vast majority of admitted VGH patients receive their care.

We deliver flowers to the Jim Pattison Pavilion daily, and we understand the emotional weight those deliveries carry. A bouquet arriving on the seventh floor after a successful surgery. A quiet arrangement left at the palliative care nursing station. A bright and cheerful vase for someone starting their rehab journey. Each one matters, and we treat each one with the attention it deserves.

If the person you are sending to is elsewhere on the VGH campus — the Heather Pavilion, Diamond Health Care Centre, Blusson Spinal Cord Centre, or Eye Care Centre — we deliver to those locations too. Visit our page for Vancouver General Hospital for campus-wide delivery information.
