The Jim Pattison Pavilion is VGH's primary inpatient acute tower. Patients here can be on any of its 12 floors, in units ranging from general medicine and surgery to the neuro ICU and palliative care. Before every delivery, we take the following steps:

  • Confirm the patient is allowed to receive flowers as per their condition
  • Verify the correct unit, ward, or floor within the Jim Pattison Pavilion
  • Coordinate directly with hospital staff or family if needed

The Jim Pattison Pavilion houses several units with specific sensitivities, and we prepare every delivery accordingly:

  • No latex balloons. Latex is restricted throughout the hospital. We include only foil Mylar balloons when requested.
  • Compact, clean arrangements. Hospital rooms — especially in a busy acute tower — have limited surface area. Our designs fit comfortably on a bedside table.
  • Vase or basket included. Every arrangement arrives ready to display.

Important: The bone marrow transplant unit in the Jim Pattison Pavilion restricts fresh flowers due to infection-control protocols. Other ICU areas on the second floor may have similar restrictions depending on the patient's condition but we are often able to call the hospital daily until which time we are permitted to deliver to the patient.
