About Little Mountain

Little Mountain is the formal name given to the area for what is mostly known as the Queen Elizabeth Park area. The gardens in Queen Elizabeth Park are nationally known and become a tourist destination during the summer time with a lovely restaurant, Seasons in the Park at the top of the mountain. Queen Elizabeth Park is also used for a variety of baseball events and is home to the minor league Vancouver Canadians inside of Nat Bailey Stadium. Little Mountain also has a rich variety of cultural restaurants and coffee shops.

History of Little Mountain

Little Mountain was once an ancient volcanic formation that was used at one time for the purpose of mining for granitic basalts. The area was eventually covered with the Queen Elizabeth Park and now is a public floral garden and is home to the Bloedel Floral Conservatory which contains a variety of exotic aquatic animals and birds.

Geography of Little Mountain

The Little Mountain area is considered to be bordered to the south by 41st Avenue, the north by 16th Avenue, the west by Cambie Street and Fraser Street to the east. Little Mountain is located in the centre of Greater Vancouver and has a small commercial strip along Main Street.
